Ultimate Spider-Man Toys Taking Shape

News is a little slow at the moment, so we thought we'd take a look at how those Ultimate Spider-Man animated series toys are progressing. We dropped word on the line back in November and had not heard anything since, so we gave a shout into the interwebingeekiverse..and it shouted back.

The 10 inch Electroweb Spider-Man: featuring an electro-shock web gauntlet with electric sound and light effects. Speaks phrases right from the cartoon. Jan 2013.

With a date like January, you'd think this news would be dropping like crazy right now! Oh well, we'll take what we can get. Though our newest image appeared with little information, it is safe to say this Spidey is the Electroweb figure we reported on. I'm still indifferent about how the cartoon design is translating to toys, but as we move on, you'll see that your worries over a store flooded with sleek, animated-style heroes is somewhat unfounded. Before we jump forward though, here's the old pic and the new one side by side for comparison...

Next we've got the Power Webs Spider Bike : Launch Spider-Man into battle with the iconic Spider Cycle powered by Power Webs! The Spider Cycle includes a 3 and 3 quarter inch power webs figure with action accessory and stunt ramp for all the coolest tricks. Removable stunt ring ensures optimal landing performance.

Note the Spidey on the bike has a very standard sculpt, if not an overly bulky one. Either way, it's not adapting the cartoon designs at all, which is a shame as this is his signature vehicle in the show, isn't it?? Our third piece, popping up for sale across the country, feels like a product popped from the way back machine compared to the last one...

When I first saw this image, I couldn't help but flash back to the older, large scale Spider-Man figures I've owned throughout my life. Not even a trace of animated styling in this release. Here's the probaganda...

Super-size your super hero adventures with this incredible TITAN HERO SERIES SPIDER-MAN figure! This 12-inch web-slinging dynamo is ready to open up a large-sized attack on the foes of justice everywhere. With him at your side, there’s no telling where your adventures will take you!

SO what can we gather from all this? Take into account that the toys aren't on shelves yet, so these could be early pics (except for the Titan Spidey who should be selling any minute now), but what we are still left with is a line that seems hesitant to completely embrace the animated style of the newest cartoon. We still expect the core line of action figures will embrace the look with both hands, but beyond that is anyone's guess.

UPDATE: The Ultimate Spider-Man 6 inch action figure line was right under our noses!

Spider-Man and his friends are bigger and better than ever before with the Ultimate Spider-Man 6" Action Figures! Iron Spider-Man with his Nano Claws, Spider-Man with his Electro Web Shooter, Nova with his Supernova Blaster, and Spider-Man with his Giant Web are ready for action! Take them into battle, and the forces of evil will cower before them! Blister card packaging. March 2013

Not too excited by the limited articulation, lack of paint aps and soft sculpts? Maybe you shouldn't check out the 3 and 3 quarter inch line then...

Spider-Man swings into action with a new line of action figures with super play powers! These 3 3/4" figures of Crossbow Chaos Spider-Man, Spider Swat Venom, Dragon Disc Iron Fist, Rocket Ramp Spider-Man, and Catapult Smash Iron Spider-Man come with accessories. Blister card packaging.

We also got word on an additional action figure line called Allstars: Spider-Man is on the move and New York's criminal element is on the run with the all-new Ultimate Spider-Man All-Stars Action Figures! Choose from Crime Fighting Spider-Man or Night Mission Spider-Man and let Spider-Man put fear into the criminal underworld! -No pics yet for this one.

We do have an updated look at those Spider Pods though, but just slightly better images than the premiere...

Keep watching as we barrel into 2013 and start getting reports from Toy Fair across the globe!

That said, Happy New Year Folks!!
